My initial review was mistakenly for a previous B.Com property in Rumaggiore. Apologies. Staying in too many B.Coms ! All in a sequence. La Calata was the best we stayed in all trip. Really excellent. Friendly caring host. Met us in the street to help get the right door. Fantastic place. Lovely views. We’d stay again - any day. The facilities and comfort couldn’t be beaten.

It's in a beautiful setting but, to visit Cinque Terre, you'd be better off somewhere like Levanto or in one of the villages inland, which are very quiet but lovely (and a quarter of the cost!) Even in late September and some awful weather, Porto Venere is packed with tourists and people from cruise ships so it's harder to enjoy it.

The Grand Hotel did not disappoint.

The Grand Hotel did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in you feel genuinely welcomed, wonderful staff, nothing is ever a problem. The view from our room was delightful, looking across the water to the beautiful old buildings of Portovenere. The breakfast was incredible, so many choices. The terrace was a lovely area to spend time for a drink as you take in some sun and the view or for dinner under the stars. We stayed 4 days and I was not ready to leave, highly recommend.

Place is a nice resort with views over looking island and La Spezia bay. Except at the departure port for Cinque Terre boat, there are not too much crowd. Nice ruins of a castle overlooking the sea, old Church and a Grotto. Fine restaurant & bars. Easy to park if you pay You can relax there after hectic / epic day visit in the Cinque Terre! Nice beach on the Island

This is my favourite new region in Italy!!

This is my favourite new region in Italy!! Captivating views around each corner of the coastline, breathtaking rock formations and boats zooming to and from. Soothing to sit amongst the coastal life. The villages felt very authentic and less touristic than other places that are this beautiful. Can’t wait to go back :)

Good base for visiting the Cinque Terre by boat.

Good base for visiting the Cinque Terre by boat. Day ticket for Euro 37 to see and visit four of the five. Public beach a few mins walk from the apartment was great. Many restaurants nearby although not impressed with a few, La chiglia, il Timone, rubbish! We arrived lunchtime on Saturday and spent hours in traffic queues trying to find parking. Davide was really helpful when we asked for help, very thankful to him.

The location is absolutely perfect - a 200 meter walk to the center of portovenere...shops, restaurants, etc. The property is stunning with beautiful views, gorgeous plants and flowers. Beppe and Rosella (the property owners) are absolutely wonderful - Rosella cooks homemade breakfasts every morning and we sat and chatted with Beppe while he made us coffee and cappuccino - they are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make their guests fell comfortable and satisfied, which we were! We would absolutely go back to stay with them!

The staff is very kind. He explained about where to go in Portovenere, and brought us our breakfast on time in the morning. The croissants and focaccia was delicious and we had them looking the sunrise by the window facing to the harbor. The room was new and very clean. There is a wonderful restaurant almost in front of the entrance of the hotel, so it was very convenient to go back to our room, after having nice regional wine and beautiful dinner. Check in and out was very smooth.

Meeting and talking with Roberto was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy, the best host we have ever had. The location of the house is ideal, it has a large living space and great kitchen, and the bedrooms have great air conditioners for the hot summer months. Some of the other reviews noted the furniture is somewhat dated and the internet service isn't great, and that is true, but in all other ways this apartment is really excellent!

Everything: location, balcony, wide bed, clean bathroom. We were extremely happy for the electric drying rack - after a hard hiking day it is a must when its raining outside. We arrived to Portovenere without a hotel booking and after we booked this place sitting in a bench in the harbour, the owner contacted us in a few minutes and sent directions to find the right place. Very good communication. I really reccomend this place.

The location was perfect, quiet street, sweet little town, with easy access to explore Cinque Terre by ferry boats. The apartment is modern, has great amenities, a nice terrace and felt safe and comfortable. It's only a 2 min walk to the next supermarket, marina and the cute restaurants by the water. I would have not wanted to stay in one of the actual touristic towns like Portovenere or crowded Cinque Terre towns.

Big and comfortable room, good bathroom. Great location, in the heart of PV and next to the start of trekking paths. Everything at a nice walk distance. The staff was very kind and helpful; they also allowed me to leave the bags there after the check out for the rest of the day. Quite few steps to reach the room, but is not a downside as the hotel is developed in height and I found it very picturesque.

The location is great, we especially appreciated the private parking in a town where you never find parking spoots. The beach is 2 minutes away and the view is amazing. It is relatively close to the port. The apartment was clean and very well equiped. Portovenere is a great starting point for a trip to Cinque Terre and a hitten jewel in it's self.

The view was absolutely amazing! Comfy bed, great shower. The host was wonderful as well — very responsive and understanding when traffic from La Spezia to Portovenere made us much later than expected. Breakfast was lovely as well especially with the view of the sea. I would absolutely stay here again!

Very well situated in the heart of Portovenere. Nice little house that we had to ourselves. We were there only for an overnight stay so we didn't use all of the facilities provided but it would be a good choice for a family or for a longer stay
