Sestri Levante is a very nice town with a historical centre and full of beaches (many of them unfortunately private). There is all infrastructure needed for visitors. Not so far away from the town centre are also free parking sites (paid parking in the town) and everything is close by. Nice places to see are simply reached, for example, by train - Portofino, Camoglia, Cinque Terre, or by car - Genova, Pisa, Lucca, La Spezia and other.

It has 2 long beaches (private and public) It is close to Cinque Terre and Portofino, which can be reached by boat and train., It has sandy (dark) beaches, great food and affordable restaurants. When you arrive at train station the houses around does not...
When you arrive at train station the houses around does not look so pleasant - but when you walk 500 metres to the old town you will get an total different view - very nice look with typical small and old streets. Sestri Levante is also a very good starting point for day trips to Cinque Terre og Portofine etc.

We are not fans of the way Italy carves up its beaches, and...
We are not fans of the way Italy carves up its beaches, and forces you to pay to access the sea, which is why we generally stayed by the hotel pool. Having said that, Sestri Levante is a very pretty resort, and has loads of beach options along the front. Restaurants were plentiful along the streets behind the main beach front, and we ate at Osteria Mattana which was excellent, serving home made local dishes.AlanUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

It’s a wonderful place to stay. Great staff, terrific breakfast atop the hotel with a view of both bays and it’s within walking distance to everything. It’s a bit pricey but it was worth it for my family’s enjoyment

Sestri Levante was easy to access, lots of lovely restaurants. We enjoy seafood & there was plenty of that ! ‘Polpo Mario’ was one very good restaurant . The ambience around the ‘Bay of Silence’ by our Hotel was great. The only beachfront we would avoid was the big one round the corner.STEPHENUnited Kingdom

He answered questions from sightseeing to history. He also made an amazing Hugo spritz. The stunning view from the outside dining is a must experience. There is a park and trail behind the hotel. Not in the center of town, but that was a plus: nice to be outside the crowds of centro. The place was brand new so it was modern and clean with all functioning amenities, including amazing air conditioning (which really was so important considering the super hot temperatures in Italy during our stay!). The place was immaculately clean and all sheets and bedding looked practically brand new. The hoes were very accommodating, helpful and professional.

And when we left she gave us a lovely bottle of wine and offered us her umbrella as it was raining. Not in the centre of Sestri Levante but only 1 km away from the train to all the cinque terre and to amazing restaurants in Riva Rigosos like La Gardenerie which is just amazing. Thoroughly recommend Maria's place as an ideal base to see the cinque terre and surrounding area. Authentic and not swamped with tourists.

The private parking lot is just outside the window, so you don't need to worry about your car. The place is relatively quiet for Italy 😄 Also the host is lovely and very helpful, provided us with many tips and helped during our 1 week stay!
