If you are walking the Cinque Terre, then Levanto is the ideal location. You get the train travel at a reduced price as you are just inside the region, the trains are quite regular and quick. Its handy if you want to go further up the coast to Portofino or down the coast to Pisa and beyond.
Its a proper town, so has all the things you need (supermarket, pharmacies etc) unlike the actual Cinque Terre towns which are crowed with day tourists and mostly cater to their needs.
We had a great stay here, lots of choice in restaurants would be more than happy to return if we had the time.

We chose Levanto because we wanted lodging to be in a relatively flat area but as close to the Cinque Terre cities as possible. The town itself is charming with lots of restaurant options. The people we met were friendly and helpful. Given the 5 cities of Cinque Terre, we allowed ourselves 5 nights and 4 full days - probably a day or 2 too long. It was easy to use the hop-on, hop-off boat and get a great view of the cities from the water. Travel to those cities by train was easy but crowded in mid September.

A beautiful walkable city with a beautiful beach and easy access to sunset boat tours and Cinque Terre via train. I recommend Wine at Cantina Dei 1000, sunset boat tour with Costa di Faraggiana, and dinner at Le Due Lune.
This place is a real paradise. We had a perfect, wonderful vacation. Ilaria, Mario, the family and staff built and run this perfect boutique hotel, up in the hills of the Cinque Terre above Levanto. They put their heart, soul, creativity and love in every little detail, to make this a beautiful, unique and comfortable location. They are also very friendly and hospitable and cater to every need and request. The room, pool area, spa, homemade breakfast, and garden are all exceptional. thank you so much.
Excellent apartment. I have travel a lot around the world and stay in hotels and apartments. This is one of the best apartments I have stayed in. Excellent location in the heart of the town, modern yet quaint, clean, good facilities, spacious, good air conditioning , excellent shower and comfortable. The host is very nice and helpful also! I guarantee you will not be disappointed when you book this apartment. I wish there were more apartments like this in Italy. It actually feels like Italy!
Our stay at Angiolina's farm was amazing! We loved this B&B the most out of all that we stayed in Italy. The views are gorgeous from the terrace reception area. There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views of Levanto without the crows of Cinque Terre. We wish we had more time to stay as we really enjoyed everything about this place. The breakfast was also the best we had. Everything was so delicious! We truly recommend anyone wanting to stay in Levanto to stay at Angiolina's Farm!
I liked everything basically.
Hotel is quite cheap for the quality it proposes. Personal is very welcoming and willing to help.
Rooms are huge, beds are very comfortable, there's plenty of choice for breakfast, real hair-dryers in the bathroom...
Hotel is located in the lovely village of Levanto, close to the beach, shop and restaurants. Very easy to join the Cinque Terre from here as the train station is 5 minutes away by feet from the hotel
We had a great stay, staff was kind and communication was good.
Breakfast was excellent with home made cake and tarts and our children loved the outdoor space
A car is necessary to arrive to the place, but we enjoyed the 10 minute drive to Levanto down the hill. It is advisable to have a smaller car as the driveway to the parking area is narrow, but we didn't have any problems.
The service was amazing. Not just while we were there but before we checked in Elisa reached out. Once we arrived Francesca was so thoughtful in helping us navigate our way around cinque de terra and best places to eat in Levanto. I highly recommend it and was one of our favorite and top places my daughters (age 13 and 15) and I stayed while in Europe!
Honestly everything was just fantastic . The owner Illaira was so lovely and kind and even made us a packed lunch as we left as my sister and I were cycling through Italy. We had a delicious breakfast and everything was so clean and enjoyable. And she managed to book us a table at a local restaurant.
Our 4 nights stay in Hotel Palazzo Vannoni in Levanto was more than pleasant.
Staf is very professional and helpful, the room is very comfortable and charming.
Close by to the train to Cinque Terre and close to the beach and all the restaurants. A lovely place to stay.
"Simply the best" B&B ever stayed in. All rooms and exterior extensively modernised last summer. Cannot fault a single thing, pool was a welcome cool down after a long drive. Levanto is also a busy Italian resort, a short train ride from the Cinque Terre.
The people doing the shuttles were really nice, the staff at the hotel was friendly as well. The hotel has a great view but it is a little far from everywhere so you are very dependant of the shuttle that has a time schedule. Breakfast is nice as well.
Lovely spacious apartment ideally located in the centre of town. Well equipped kitchen.
Levanto is an ideal base for exploring the Cinque Terre area and Levanto is a worth visiting as an Italian seaside town.
Recommend staying at Clarissa House
Breathtaking view, lovely infinitely pool to enjoy the ocean view, spacious room, sunny terrace. Nice, clean and cool. To our opinion a four star ranking is in place. The hotel offers a great service: free bus shuttle to and from Levanto!
The hotel was lovely. The host was friendly and exceptionally helpful. The room was clean and well decorated with nice big windows and a drying rack in the bathroom. Also included a delicious coffee machine in the room.
Good location central to the train station (5 mins walk) easy to set off to cinque terre. Locked private parking outside building (€10). Host Andrea was very helpful and communicated well, good recommendations.
Great quiet location (with views) with good car access to Levanto (for train to the Cinque Terre). Claudia is very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very clean (as new) and comfortable.
Levanto is a great base for exploring Cinque Terre. Sarah and Enrique's accommodation is in a great location close to beach, town centre and train station. Would highly recommend staying here.
The host was very welcoming and helpful for visiting the cinque terre. It was clean and close to down town Levanto. She also gave a pass for all the parking in Levanto which was a huge help.
Great location in beautiful Levanto. A very nice, private apartment with great view and a pool. We had one of our best stays in Italy thanks to our kind and generous host Raffaella.
Great location - close to downtown, and cafe and the station. Very easy access to all of cinque terre from Levanto! Owner was very friendly and helpful! thank you,!
